Policing schools in Ontario prepare students for a variety of careers in law enforcement. Classes may include the criminal justice system, government agencies, criminal justice theory, police practices and procedures, public and private law enforcement, corrections, counter terrorism, international terrorism, public policy, and a review of government at the federal, state and local levels. Degrees range from two-year associate’s to master’s degrees. Policing schools are generally housed within a university or a standalone academy governed by a government agency. Many programs also offer externships in addition to the classes.
