Paralegals perform an important function in many law offices. Aside from practicing law by setting fees, arguing a case in court, or giving legal advice to a client, they can do many of the same things attorneys do. This includes preparing and even writing legal documents, interviewing clients and talking with witnesses, conducting research into points of law, and assisting the attorney during court proceedings. Paralegal schools in Tennessee offer several programs to help you prepare for this highly specialized position. These range from a just-the-basics certificate course to the more detailed associate’s degree. Classes start with such essentials as legal terminology, law office procedures, legal ethics and confidentiality, legal documents, and the U..S court system.
At South College we welcome students from all different stages of life and career.
