Schools Offering Online Legal Assistant programs

As the practice of law becomes more widespread and more expensive, the services of legal assistants have become much more common. Legal assistants aid lawyers by performing a series of tasks that once belonged to the exclusive domain of lawyers. Legal assistants prepare cases by researching or investigating, analyzing evidence, drafting contracts and agreements, reviewing relevant case information, writing reports and briefs, creating recommendations, shaping legal arguments, maintaining files, and preparing documents.

Like lawyers, legal assistants work in law firms and company legal departments as well as government legal departments. However, legal assistants are not allowed to advise clients, argue a case in court, or practice law.
