Legal assistants, also known as paralegals, are a valuable member of any legal department or team. They conduct many of the same duties as attorneys but are not allowed to give legal advice, set fees or present in court. Legal assistants typically engage in conducting legal research by investigating relevant case law, interviewing witnesses, preparing court documents and briefing attorneys for upcoming hearings and court cases.
