This new age of internet and technology dependence has put the legal system on alert for these new illegal activities that previously didn't exist. Therefore, new legislation is constantly be introduced, passed, and debated in order to investigate and prosecute computer criminals. In addition to passing nation-wide laws, there have also been calls for international treaties seeking to address this problem on a world wide scale. The Convention on Cybercrime was the first treaty seeking to address the establishment of international cybercrime laws.
