Human services schools in Manitoba provide students with educational training programs at the associate’s and bachelor’s degree levels. Most programs are associate’s degrees programs offered at two-year community colleges. Human services students learn to work with disadvantaged populations who suffer from abuse, drug addiction, mental illness, alcoholism, and old age. Many times human services personnel work under the authority of a social services director or social worker. Common classes include law and ethics in human services, local, state and federal government, group counseling, addiction counseling, intake and referral, and introduction to criminal justice. Many programs offer an internship that allows students to work within a human services agency.
