Students completing a degree in Criminal Justice will be prepared to seek positions in a variety of careers in the security, law enforcement and corrections fields.

Each Herzing Criminal Justice program includes the required entry level courses to make sure the student can understand the legal system and judicial process, think critically and ethically, demonstrate proficiency in criminalistics and evidence forensics, and understand the unique aspects of corrections and juvenile justice, and additional courses suited to the student's level of education.

Associate of Science in Criminal Justice

The Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice gives students to the vital skills and academic knowledge for advancement in entry-level positions in numerous law-enforcement and industrial security enterprises. There are numerous career opportunities in the areas of public safety, security, governmental agency, diplomatic security and border patrol.

Students are provided with 60 semester credit hours by the Associate degree. All of the subject matter previously listed is studied, ensuring graduates are well-versed in every area of criminal justice. Graduates will have a knowledge base that includes many aspects of the public safety sector and will be able to pursue careers in various areas in this field. After graduation, our students are able to transfer these credits to the Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Public Safety and the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.

Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Public Safety with No Minor or Concentration

Individuals responsible for identifying potential terrorist targets and maintaining the safety of large groups of people and especially those among the first to arrive on the scene of a disaster or incident will find the Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Public Safety with No Minor or Concentration ideal. The degree includes core courses in criminal justice as well as instruction in homeland security and public safety along with a capstone project in homeland security and public safety. This degree, which does not include a minor or concentration, allows for the transfer of a great deal of credits earned previously at another institution.

The Bachelor of Science degree program in Homeland Security and Public Safety has been carefully planned to fill the growing number of positions available for public safety and security professionals in areas throughout the country. There are three main core subjects that make up the program: criminal justice, fire safety, and homeland security. This degree will prepare the new graduate for exciting careers in Domestic and International Terrorism, Cyber crime, Hazardous Material Management, Public Event Planning, Law Enforcement and Industrial Security.

Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a Concentration in Homeland Security

This program is ideal for those students who will not be transferring a great deal of previous college credit. The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with concentration in Homeland Security adds criminal psychology, investigation, narcotics, and financial crime courses to the fundamental curriculum in criminal justice. Topics covered in the homeland security concentration's core homeland security and public safety classes include terrorism, emergency management, first responder, fire science, industrial security and incident stress management.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice has been planned to meet the ever increasing need for public safety and security professionals in communities throughout the United States. The core subjects that make up this program can be placed into three categories: Criminal Justice, Fire Safety, and Homeland Security.
