Criminology schools in Oregon provide students with the education required to secure a career in criminology. Criminology is different from criminal justice in that the program focuses more on the mind and behavior of the criminal and less on the criminal justice system. Associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees are all available in criminology from Oregon’s schools and universities. Courses include criminal law, criminal policies and procedures, theories of crime, case study analysis, and research methods. Internships are often a requirement of students during their senior year and prior to graduation. Many internships lead to full-time employment in a law enforcement agency or criminal justice center.
