Criminology might be called the study of crime, but it’s much more than that. A criminologist studies crime in order to understand its causes and hopefully prevent future crime as well as bring offenders to justice. This field combines law, sociology, psychology, and behavioral science. A bachelor’s degree from criminology schools in Idaho might cover criminal justice, drugs, victimology, criminal law, human behavior, and criminal research methods among other subjects. There are also several closely related fields that might interest future students of criminology, such as social and behavioral studies or corrections. These can be pursued as study areas of their own or as a minor in a criminology or criminal justice degree.
