Associated of Applied Science (A.A.S.)

This associate program is an excellent start for students interested in corrections, courts, investigation, and law enforcement. This program has been constructed to ready students for a wide spectrum of vocations in the field of criminal justice either for the private or public sector. When students have successfully finished the program they can begin entry-level employment with state or local law enforcement agencies, the federal government, security services of the private sector or with insurance companies or correctional agencies.

The best way to enter the enticing field of Criminal Justice is to earn your Associate of Applied Science degree to increase your qualifications. Your AAS credits can be used towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree at IBC, if you choose. If you want to enter the Criminal Justice field at a higher level, such as the management level, or earn higher starting wages, achieving a BS first, or other additional college credit helps you to do this, as well as allowing you a broader span of job opportunities.

Bachelor of Science (B.S.)

This program will provide students with an integrated understanding of the full scope of the criminal justice system. Graduates of this program will be able to utilize their systems perspective of all relevant aspects of the criminal justice system to make professional decisions at all levels of criminal justice. Those who finish the program can seek entry-level jobs with municipal and regional police, prisons, and other criminal-justice agencies, and later pursue careers at the national level. The Bachelor degree prepares students to pursue graduate work in criminal justice and law, with a strong theoretical background, experience in policy and ethics, and knowledge of the methods of criminal justice. The program is aimed at those who have an associate degree in criminal justice or a related area, or who have finished college coursework equal to such a degree. You may need to finish other schoolwork to accomplish the course requirements seen in the criminal justice Bachelors degree program.
