Associate\'s Degree in Occupational Studies - Paralegal Studies 18 months (72 weeks)
The Paralegal Associateâ??s of Occupational Studies Degree Program at CCNN was especially created for students seeking to begin an exciting and rewarding career as a paralegal. The paralegal training at CCNN prepares students to be able to work under the supervision of an attorney after graduation.
Paralegals assist lawyers in the preparation for closings, hearings, trials, and corporate meetings. Paralegals research the facts of cases and are responsible for making sure that all relevant information and data is available and duly considered. They are also responsible for such tasks as identifying appropriate laws, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials relevant to each assigned case. After having analyzed and organized the data, paralegals may prepare reports in writing which are used by attorneys to determine what methods should be used in handling cases. When lawyers file suits for their clients, paralegals may be involved in the preparation of the legal arguments, pleadings, and court motions, as well as obtaining affidavits and assisting lawyers when they appear in court. Organizing and accessing files and making them easily attainable to the attorneys is a very significant part of a paralegal\'s work.
